The Conference will be opened by the Director General, Tourism Malaysia, will be held on 16th to 18th the October 2014 at the Pacific Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

APeco is a prominent ecotourism event in the Asia Pacific where ecotourism academicians and industry experts from the Asia Pacific region congregate to network and exchange views on ecotourism, conservation, garden heritage, coastal forests, marine life and community based projects.

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents has organized the 8th Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference (APECO 2014) what will be held on 16-18 October 2014 at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

" Having organised the first APeco in 2002, we are delighted to host APeco14 in Kota Kinabalu again " says in the welcome message, Albert Teo, Organising Chairman, 8th Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference APeco.

"Ecotourism conference plays a very important part in our national tourism calendar. Not only do we have a National Ecotourism Masterplan in Malaysia, we are also blessed by the fact that much of the land is still covered by permanent forest and parks. With the growing awareness of global warming and negative environmental impact of human activities, ecotourism will also be increasingly sought after, not just by our local urbanites and city dwellers but also by our neighbouring countries to seek out adventures, education, leisure and recreation in our natural environments".

"MATTA has made every effort to make this conference one of the most important events during Visit Malaysia Year 2014. We are therefore proud to play our role by not only making the registration fee very affordable for both practitioners and students but also by offering up to 50% discount on our field trips (limited space only) to provide the delegates every opportunity to learn from the speakers".

"By providing APeco14 as a platform for continuous learning through education especially in the field of ecotourism, we hope that you will take every opportunity to upgrade your skill and expertise by adopting cutting edge technologies and creating best case models and thus adding value through systematic and sustainable development in the tourism industry".

"Besides learning of the challenges and opportunities of ecotourism, the Conference will help the Malaysian authorities, developers, accommodation operators and tour operators to have a better insight of some of the best-practice policies in the region".

"The APeco Conference will promote the abundant tropical rainforests to the ecotourism fraternity besides the challenges faced in modernizing the state while providing the required necessities for its people to ensure a developed nation status. MATTA representing the tour and travel industry is taking the lead in a big way to turn the niche ecotourism business into a viable one for its Members".

More than 300 participants from the tourism industry from all over the world are expected to attend APeco 2014 Conference. With the theme Adding Value through Ecotourism Development, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Organising Committee, has lined up a good programme with experienced and knowledgeable speakers and panellists in the subject matter.
