The meeting will be held to June 26-27 at the Taipei International Convention Center. Will participate over 400 attendees from over 25 countries and will focus on the high quality of healthcare available in Asia.

The World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress (WMTC) is the Medical Tourism Association‘s annual international conference, where the annual membership meeting is held throughout the US. Over the last three years, the event has been taking place in three different cities throughout the U.S., namely Las Vegas, Miami and Chicago.

This year a regional event will be hosted for the first time in Taiwan, as a joint initiative the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), the World Medical Tourism Congress (WMTC), Taiwan’s Ministry of Health & Welfare (MOHW) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The WMTC Taiwan will feature up to 400 attendees from over 25 countries and will focus on the high quality of healthcare available in Asia. It will also bring together the stakeholders involved in Asian medical tourism for intense networking event and educational opportunities.

Making face-to-face connections with medical tourism leaders, influencers and peers is one of the highlights of attending the WMTC Taiwan 2014. In fact, the number of face-to-face meetings that you can hold in two days at the conference would take years cost thousands of dollars to accomplish if you had to travel to each country.

WMTC Taiwan has also partnered with the Global Benefits Association to host a Global Insurance track that will bring together leading international insurance companies, employers, agents, travel assistance companies and others focused on global insurance and benefits issues. Hear case studies and best practices as providers discuss their long-term strategies and learn from multinational companies and insurers about their best practices and innovation in international benefits plans.

Renee-Marie Stephano, president of the US-based Medical Tourism Association, said at the press conference held last May in Taipei, that she sees great potential in Taiwan's medical tourism.

In 2013, over 200,000 foreign travelers sought medical treatment in Taiwan, and the number is expected to grow as Taiwan can provide high-quality healthcare and is dedicated to ensuring good patient experience, Stephano said.

Medical tourism is one of the fastest growing and lucrative sectors in the travel industry, with the movement of medical travelers in Asia is increasing annually by 20-30 percent, way ahead of overall travel in the region, she said.

The WMTC is the Medical Tourism Association's annual international conference, which holds its membership meetings in the United States. This year's congress will be held in Washington D.C. in September. The group's first Asian meeting took place in South Korea in 2010.
