Under the slogan "Airs, Waters and Places" will be held in the islands of Rhodes and Kos with a special session on the history of the Thermalism of the member countries and the Hippocratic Oath ceremony in Asclepeion.


FEMTECThe World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) will hold its 66th General Assembly and International Scientific Congress from 13 to 17 October 2013 in the Dodecanese islands, Rhodes and Kos. The scientific lectures will be held in Rhodes. Located 18 kilometers from the Turkish coast, is one of the most touristic areas of Greece for its sunny beaches and the legacy of myths and legends that survive in every corner of the island. Its medieval town protected by walls, has been declared "heritage of humanity" by UNESCO.

In Kos known as the "Island of Hippocrates" born in the year 460. b.C. and considered the father who laid the foundation of modern medicine, will take place the Hippocratic Oath ceremony to be held in Asklepeion. Currently Kos town hosts the International Hippocratic Institute and a museum dedicated to the "first doctor of antiquity".

Considering the theme of the Congress : "ON AIRS, WATERS AND PLACES . Thermal Integrated Medicine for an Holistic approach to health government " , the orga nization has developed a program that will expose the following topics:

  • Experimental and Clinical Researches on Thermal medicine.
  • Prevention and health.
  • Hygiene and Technologies.
  • Hot springs, SPA and Traditional Medicine.
  • Economical and social aspects.
  • Energy saving and reduction of water consumption, environment protection.
  • Manantiales termales y Servicios Gubernamentales de Salud.
  • Hot Springs and Health Government Services. Human resources and professional training.
  • Hot springs, medical spa and tourism development.
  • Research by products of the hot springs.
  • Strategy of hot spring hotels.
  • Business model research of hot spring tourism development.

In presenting the scientific program FEMTEC both President Prof. Nikolai Storozhenko and General Secretay, Prof. Umberto Solimene, highlight that " Natural Mineral waters and climatic resources are part of the cultural heritage of every country’s medical tradition ". Referring to the theme of the Congreso emphasize that " Hippocrates, “the Father of Medicine”, wrote the “handbook” “On Airs, Waters and Places”, very modern and topical. It dealt with connections between human being and environment and the opportunity of natural means care. Holistic and integrate vision provides four principal implements: hydrothalassotherapy, movement, nourishment and relationship mind/body ".

Finally they indicate that " So the choice of Congress site is to underline the important and topical Hippocratic teaching about prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, wellbeing".

Rhodes, Dodecanese capital will welcome participants specialists from Russia, Italy, France, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Cuba, Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine, China, Japan, Korea, San Marino, Kazakhstan, among other countries of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC).

On October 14 there will be the opening ceremony of the 66th International Scientific Congress FEMTEC at the Rodos Palace Hotel, headquarters of Congress. The first scientific conference includes lectures " Hot spring from Hippocrates to the Modern Society”: ”Experimental and Clinical Researches on Thermal Medicine” . The session will close with the theme", ”Hygiene and Technologies in the Thermal Centers” And subsequent discussion.

The day 15 will hold two morning scientific sessions. . " The present situation and prospects of Thermalism” and " Thermal Medicine and Health Tourism" in charge of the International Academy for Tourism Destination Development.(IASDRD). In the afternoon there will be the meeting of the Board and FEMTEC Executive Committee and subsequent General Assembly will conclude with the Awards Ceremony.

On October 16 the Kos Island will host the Hippocratic Oath ceremony. An act full of symbolism on the Hippocratic doctrine to be held in Kos Asclepion, one of the most important sanctuaries of ancient Greece, built in honor of Asclepius. Here was also based, as indicated by the inscriptions, the medical school founded by Hippocrates.
