Attendance at the international event signifies DHCC’s continued efforts to showcase its healthcare offering to an ever increasing global audience with the aim of attracting medical tourists to the free zone.

DHCC has participated in MHTC as a key player in the Dubai Medical Tourism Group Initiative that was established in 2012; following an announcement from HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council; with the aim of establishing Dubai as a global health tourism hub. Through partnership with the Dubai Health Authority and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and under the umbrella of the Dubai Medical Tourism Group, DHCC will continue to validate its position as the home of world-class healthcare facilities.

Marwan Abedin, CEO of DHCC said “We are very pleased to be present at MHTC and to explore the opportunities this congress presents. As it has been witnessed; Dubai has long been welcoming Russian tourists who favoured the city as a holiday destination, enjoying the warmer climate, outstanding hospitality and a close proximity.

Russia and the CIS have been identified as key markets due to the rapid increase in the number of patients that are currently travelling abroad for treatment. And while more people are looking to blend their medical and travel needs, this event in Moscow acts as a key platform for DHCC to demonstrate to this pivotal audience its position as an established centre of healthcare excellence, and to further establish its presence as a medical hub to the global community".

Marwan Abedin Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Healthcare City interved in the oppening session with the lecture " A cluster of excellence Dubai Healthcare City - a unique business model of medical tourism".

"Dubai Healthcare City, the first healthcare free zone in the world, located in the heart of Dubai, offers a wide range of quality health services that are popular with patients around the world. In Dubai Healthcare City have created more than 120 health centers represented in 13 clusters. Each cluster combines the world specialists of different specifications, which complement each other, represent our vision of an internationally recognized center of medical quality and excellence in the field of clinical and Wellness services, medical education and research."

The number of Russian visitors to Dubai increased by 54 per cent last year and tourists from the country are among the top five travellers to the Emirate. Almost 400,000 Russians visited Dubai in 2012 and as a result, the number of flights between the two regions was increased. In the last three months alone, Emirates Airline has increased overall capacity to Moscow by a substantial 46 per cent. Dubai also continues to welcome an ever increasing Russian expatriate community.
