TURKISH AND HUNGARIAN SPECIALISTS EXCHANGE BALNEOTHERAPY EXPERIENCES

Hajduszoboszlo, the biggest SPA resort in Europe, welcomes the scientific meeting between the two historical countries in thermalism.

The spa town of Hajdúszoboszló will host the Seventh Workshop Hungarian-Turkish on Balneotherapy. Specialists from both countries with extensive research in the thermal medicine, will present their scientific experiences.

The effect of balneotherapy on fibromyalgia, the therapeutic action of pelotherapy in osteoarticular disorders, osteoporosis, are the main communications which will be presented at the scientific meting to be held from 7 to 10 of May 2009.

SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE
The scientific session will be presided on the 9th, in a first part, by M. Zeki Karagülle and Tamás Bender. M. Zeki Karagülle and Mine Karagülle will discourse upon the investigation of balneotherapy in Turkey, in a overview way and Tamás Bender will present the scientific research balneotherapy in Hungary. Among others interventions we have to point out that of the Géher and Pál Horváth Remény that will inform about the development of criteria regarding spa day hospital, where Hungary has a solid experience.

In the second part, headed by Mine Karagülle and Pal Geher will analyze the Turkish experience of pelotherapy in rheumatic disorders. Practical cases will be presented by Kagan Özkuk, Fatma Begum Berköz, Fulya Aldinç, Mine Karagülle, M. Zeki Karagülle.

Both countries are historical references in spas worldwide. Turkey is a country spa par excellence. The healthy properties of its waters were well known since antiquity because of its geological conditions, because it is a tectonic and volcanic area. The spa is a concept deeply rooted in Turkish culture and the famous Turkish albaths though descend directly from the Roman Baths, have their own culture, architecture and ritual bath. From the public baths of ancient Constantinople, in Istanbul, nowdays 57 of these historical baths remain operating.

Hungary is a country privileged in thermal springs. Its heritage of medicinal mineral thermal waters springs is considered one of the largest in Europe. Of the 1372 thermal springs currently known, nearly 300 are used as spas and one in ten are in the capital Budapest. Have been recorded about 385 towns with spas of which 13 have been awarded certificate of healthy space.

Hajduszoboszlo among them, which is also a member of the Hungarian Association of Spa a prestigious institution that participates in negotiations with several organizations and executive authorities.
