MARBELLA WILL HOST THE WORLD CONGRESS OF TOURISM OF HEALTH 2008

The II Workshop of Tourism of Health celebrated on 25 and 26 October and held  in the Hotel Puente Romano, Marbella, organized by Promotur and sponsored by Residential Vitania and Valle Romano and concluded with the declaration of principles on this emergent sector profiled as the first segment of economic importance regarding the tourist offer of the Costa del Sol on 2010.

The Association of Companies of Residential, Sporting and Health Tourism of Andalucia (Promotur) counted on Manuel Torreiglesias acting as presenter and moderator for the second year, pleads for a Tourism of Health “of quality with all the services “and the Association considers that Tourism of Health has become the perfect complement for the remaining tourist segments, and  helps to get the high-priority aim of this sector that is to maintain the offert whatever the seasonal period”

More than a hundred of professionals of the sector of national and international level were attending, highlighting the presence of Mr. Hadi Malaeb, responsible maximum and organizer of the World Congress of Tourism of Health 2008 that will take place next year in Marbella, and whose previous editions were helded in Germany 2006 and Cyprus in 2007

During this second edition of the Days of Tourism of Health an analysis of this segment inside the tourist offer of Andalusia has been carried out, as well as a forestate of the World Congress of Tourism of Health 2008 that will be celebrated in Marbella.

As Javier Velasco, vice-president –director of Vitania and president of Health of Promotur, manifested,  the Association of Companies of Residential, Sport and Health Tourism of Andalusia, will also participate as a clear manifestation of their resolved support to the consolidation and improvement of this tourist segment of future.

The Tourism of Health is confirmed as the third segment in economic importance in the tourist offer of the Costa del Sol. It has an extraordinarily important projection and shortly will become the second sector of the Costa del Sol, only behind of the sun and beach tourism.

EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE
EThe scientific program divided in five modules was developed during two days. The opening conference was in charge of Hadi Malaeb. organicer of the World Congresses of Tourism of Health. He made a wide valuation about the economic importance of the Tourism of Health in the world concert, present and future of a rising sector.

The thermal specialist Mayte Suárez, President of GRUPO TERMAS, centered her expound in the Tourism of Health in Spain and the current tendencies in Europe. In that respect she remembered how the booming of the Tourism of Health is transforming the concept of SPA in a new product called Wellness or Well-being, facilitated the approach of the Central Europe countries to the object of protecting its thermal patrimony. An initiative consolidated in a common project in which the regions from 18 countries with thermal tradition are participating.

The well known expert alluded to the water tasting culture as a trend of the society  searching for the healthy habits. For this reason she said, “today's consumer wants a functional product, he wants to ingest pure, clean water, also water capable of revitalizing and improve the well-being.”

Finally she referred to the Tourism of Health, that that has as main aim the health, the well-being and the aesthetics and is beyond of the traditional thermal station, mentioning the experience of Hungary in the odontology treatments and the trend of the developed countries to dedicate a bigger percentage from their rent to the leisure and the health. Both reports centered the first day development.

Claus Rohrer, Consultant and Delegate of Clinica Buchinger spoke in the second day on “The Fastingtherapy, The Experience of the Clinica Buchinger”, and “The roll of the private clinics in the Tourism of Health at International level.”
The experience of Xanit” that was presented by Juan Bosco, of Xanit International Hospital, they centered the morning developments ended by the communication of Albert Vergés, General Manager of the Fundación Edad & Life, under the I title “The elders, a problem or a business opportunity for the Tourism of Health.”

Manuel Torreiglesias, presenter and director of the program “Saber vivir” of TVE, he referred to the virtues of the Costa del Sol and of the mediterranean diet for a healthy life, highlighting that one of the pillars for a good health is to use of materials such as the Sun and a good feeding. In their opinion, the Tourism of Health is a project that deserve to bet for it on the current society.
