CONFERENCE INTHOS IN HUNGARY

The Conferencia INTHOS that will take place from 30th May to 1st June of 2007, under the coordination of the International Foundation of the Hungarian Hospitals Network, will analyze combined strategies of health care in Balneotherapy and possibilities for the Insurance companies of being welcomed to some new financing formulas among countries of the UE.

The initiative taken by Hungary is a result of its position of leadership in EU about financing of thermal treatments. We have to bear in mind that Hungarian Health System, from February 2003, pay up to 85 per cent of SPA treatments to patients under medical prescription.

The excellent geographical situation of Hungary with regard to therapeutic spas, together with the availability of medical services in their surroundings, makes possible to go ahead with a tourist plan for the rehabilitation of disabled children, adults with obesity, adictions, chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, hemodiálisis, cancer rehabilitation, etc.

An special attention is paid to the problems of rheumatism in a natural atmosphere with radioactive sources, skunks, etc. keeping in mind that the rheumatology and rehabilitation are the most demanded therapeutic services by the patients remitted under medical prescription to the day hospitals of the Thermal Baths.

According to the organization, the costs of high level, assuring the diagnosis possibilities and therapies are guaranteed to a lower price, including many different forms of traveling to the Hungarian therapeutic institutions.

Europe moves toward an unique Balneotherapy, This will facilitate the therapeutic treatment in other countries of the EU, thence the fact that the importance of this next Conference where the sanitary reformation of Hungary and the financing of the supplements such as the thermal cure, will be explained. It is the opening of opportunities for the business of health Insurance in the Hungarian market.

PROGRAMME

The Conferencia INTHOS will be developed during three days. The Plenary Session will take place the day 30 of May of 2007, in the Ministry of Sanity headquarters in the capital Budapest. The opening will be in charge of Foreing Minister , Dr. Kinga Göncz.

In this first day will be presented the conferences concerning Health, Insurance and financing systems in the EU, and the Tourism of Health in Hungary. The Dr. Mihály Kökeny will inform on the sanitary reformation of Hungary and later on, Laszlo Major will lecture on the financing of spas treatments. Finally the Dr. Lajos Ari will exposes the opportunities to health Insuranceh business in the Hungarian market.

The region Nyíregyháza, east of Hungary, will host the second session of the Conference that will take place in the Hospital Jósa András, in the city of Debrecen. The scientific session will begin with an introduction on the opportunities for the companies of health insurance in this region, the formation of Doctors in the University of Debrecen and the heart surgery: CT, MR, PET.

On the 1st of June, the city of Siofok in the eastern basin of the Lake Balatón, will host the third session of the Conference. The workshop will take place in the Center of Rehabilitation of the Héviz Spa. Siófok as vacacional center is considered the right place to present to the health insurance companies the new financing formulas in Hungary and the EU.

SANITARY COVERING

It is necessary to remember that in the first European Conference of Tourism of Health, that kook place last year in Budapest, one of the sessions was dedicated to examine the mobility of the specialized treatment for the insureds inside the EU. European Parliament members analyzed the current outlines of the National Health Service in the countries members of the EU and the possibilities for a later expansion inside the Tourism of Health.

In other countries such as France, the National Health Service reimburses the thermal treatments up to 65%. If the user has refund doctor's insurance, the complement could be assumed by this organism.

The treatment is prescribed by a general practitioner or by specialist and it is accepted without previous agreement for a yearly treatment. Cure period last 21 days, 18 of which are for treatment carried out in the elected station by an established agreement with the doctor in charge of the pathologies to treat. Several thermal stations have 2 or 3 therapeutic orientations.

Also, collaboration exists between the health insurance companies and the thermal stations, something similar to what happens in Germany, where the insurance companies that subsidize the thermal treatments, have developed a fundamental roll in the balneo-cure that is carried out in 137 centers offering medical treatments.

In Spain that doesn't have included the balneo cure in the National Health Service, has developed since 1989 what is known as Social Thermalism and it is a service directed to those elder than 65 years. The IMSERSO, by means of a program that develops the mentioned social thermalism, facilitates to the pensioners needing it, always under medical prescription, the stay in spas at very low prices.

Finally, to indicate that the Conferencia INTHOS will suppose a step ahead in the cooperation of the insurance companies and the National Health Services to offer in short term, personalized presentations. What will favor people undergoing thermal cures.

EThe sanitary tourism is a reality in Europe, therefore, the health insurance companies have an excellent opportunity to be welcomed to new financing formulas. Proposals that will be presented in this summit of tourism of health in the EU.
