SARVAR, ROYAL SPA OF EUROPA

The city spa of Sárvár, in the western
part of Hungary, can use the name of “Royal Spa.”
Rainer
Mertel, president of the “Royal Spas of Europe” welcomed the Spa of Sárvár and
its Wellness Centre, as a new member of the Association after passing an audit
and an inspection. The welcoming city of Sárvár is therefore allowed to be named
of “Royal Spa” and to enter in the exquisite circle of these European spas of
thermal water.
Ten of the most important European spas did associate to treat their guests
like kings. These are the thermal spas where once the emperors, kings, high
nobility and famous state heads found relax of the higest standard. Now the
initiatives taken by the Real Spas of Europe aim to promote the special quality
of their thermal centers and to complement them by attractive packages with a
cultural and historical background to the offers of wellness.
CULTURE AND HISTORY
Sárvár
is one of them now. It is also one of the most beautiful towns, located next to
the main highway 84 that goes from the Austrian border to the Balaton Lake. It
is a small town with a great wealth in culture and history, surrounded by waters,
forests and hills.
One of the characteristic features of Sárvár is the castle Nadasdy whose
origin dating back to the Middle Age. Its white spire, arching bridge of arches
and the perpendicular internal court are all unique features of the castle of
Renaissance style flanked by trees planted in the moat.
The development of the town began in the ages of the Nadasdy Family. The also
nowdays wonderful castle had famous owners through the history, among others,
the Habsburg-Lotharings, Bavarian princes and the last Babarian King Ludwig III.
The forest near the castle, used to be the kings garden, has several rarities
including more than 350 species of trees and bushes. Since 1952 this immense
garden is under environmental protection.
The rowing lake, the Ríver Raba, the parks and green forests provide ideal
conditions for all age groups to rest, take trips or simply spend some memorable
days in the city and its surroundings.
Sárvár offers several cultural, sport events and entertainment facilities for
all its visitors. Those opting for active recreation, can do cycling, fishing,
hunting, riding or touring the beautiful natural enviroment. The Ríver Raba
provides ideal conditions to paddle boat and canoelng tours.
Tourists also like to visit the town for its high quality cultural programmes,
such as the International Folklore Festival organized every year, the
International Bands Festival, the Simón-Judas open air market and also the
so-called Historical Days.
THE WELLNESS
One
of the most attractive aspects of Sárvar is the richness of healing waters of
two totally different types .The thermal water that sprouts from 1200 metres
depth reaching temperature of 43ºC, it contains alkaline hydrogen carbonates,
sodium and microelements and is especially suitable for the treatment of
locomotive disorders, rehabilitative after treatment and neurological disorders.
The water that sprouts from 2000 metres depth has a very high content of salt
and its temperature reaches 83º C.
The famous glass of Sárvár takes place starting from this high temperature
and of its high salinity through the evaporation. This healing water with
abundant salt, it can be used in an effective way in the treatment of illnesses
of the apparatus locomotive as well as in dermatology and gynecology.
The
new Spa and Wellness Centre of Sárvár that meet the international normative,
were opened in December 2002. The Spa has highest standard services with
partially covered pools, therapeutic waters of well known prestige, wellness
facilities, modern therapy, water entertaintments for children, fitness and
beauty facilities.
Sárvár is part of the tourist itinerary of the
Healthy Route through the Western Trans-Danube carried out by GRUPO TERMAS
in collaboration with BuscaSalud.com. Well-known as Route of the Wellness, one
of most emblematic hungarian tourist-thermal circuits for hollydays of rest and
health.
In 2004 the Spa and Wellness Centre of Sárvár won the first prize of the
Hungarian Association of Wellness, in the category “Better Wellness Centre”.
