The Hospital of Cardiology of Balatonfüred, in the Route of Wellness, receives about ten thousand patient annually.


Is considered the biggest Centre in Cardio-rehabilitation of Hungary and also a world reference, since1927, when the Hindu poet and thinker Rabindranath Tagore recovered from his coronary ailment in this hospital.

His promoter Tibor Debroczy, director of the State Hospital of Balatonfüred, organized in September of 1957 the first meeting of cardiologists. In 1958 and 1959 took place several itinerant congresses in Balatonfüred, in the context of "day doctors" and since 1962, it become a tradition to celebrate these scientific encounters, once a year, during the month of May.



The city of Balatonfüred was granted the category of healthy place and its sour waters and springs were declared of medicinal character in the year 1772. The first doctor specialized in thermalism was József Manes Oesterreicher (1786). It was in the year 1971 when the city became a reference to the "places of health."

The city has a beautiful promenade in the bank of the Balaton Lake, named after the famous hindu poet and thinker Rabindranath Tagore (previously it was called Promenade Kolos and later on Promenade Deák).
