BUDAPEST, CITY OF REAL SPAS

New partner of the "Royal Spas of Europe".
Coinciding with the celebration of the Year of the Health, Hungary become
partner of the Royal Spas of Europe, organization that contains the main
European cities chosen by the nobility to enjoy and rest in their royal spas.
To overcome quality critherion of mineral-medicinal waters, to improve the
health and the well-being, a refined thermal environment, appropriate hotel
infrastructure and a select program of cultural events, are some of the demanded
requirements to become part of this association of "elite."
The
inclusion of Budapest inside the group of Royal Springs of mineral water of
Europe, represents a recognition to the millennial thermal tradition of Hungary
and very especially to its capital, with emblemátic spas located in historic
buildings more than 400 years old and built in the heart of the Danube.
They constitute the thermal patrimony of the city, the Turkish Baths of
Kiláry, Rac, Rude, Lukács, Széchenyi, the biggest in Europe and the mythical
Gellért SPA, one of the most beautiful.
Characters
as Visconti, Arthur Rubinstein, Richard Nixon, Raquel Welch, the Sha of Persia
or the Queen Juliana of Holland that spent her night of weddings, in 1937, were
some of the illustrious guests that enjoyed the caresses of their healthy
thermal waters.
According to the Director of the National Office of Tourism of Hungary in
Spain information, Budapest is the unique city of the world with more tham 130
springs of minero-medicinal water of the total of 1300 classified nationwide.
These springs of hot thermal water, constitute one of the attractiveness of
the Hungarian capital, well-known as the "Paris of the East", highlighting
their thermal architecture, influences of the Roman culture and of the purest
Ottoman style, with copper domes, beautiful mosaics and the characteristic
finishes off of half moon in the high thing.
The natural wealth of the thermal water was enjoyed by the Romans that built
the first spas of Aquincum and Gorsium and Tiberios Nero, the emperor's Augusto
son, stablish a legal normative for the rational use of the water of the springs
of the mountains of Buda. The ruins of Aquiva show evidences of the beginnings
of Budapest until becoming a real spring of water mineral.
Along the history of Budapest, this natural richness was a privilege that
enjoyed characters such as Hungarian nobility, Frederik Barbarroja, Hungría
Sigismund's Kings and Lydwing and Eduard VIII (s. XX) that chose the most
refined spas in the capital to obtain the benefit of the therapeutic effects of
their springs. The influence of the Habsburg monarchy was very important for the
commercialization of the mineral water to the five continents.
With the incorporation of Hungary, they are eight the countries represented
in the exclusive club of "the royal spas of Europe." The tradition for the
hungarian culture of the water is based in that the territory and especially its
capital, Budapest, has in the underground an authentic reservation of thermal
waters.
The Royal Spas of Europe has eleven partners of a maximum of 15. Besides
Budapest (Hungary) the others members are: Baden ?Baden (Germany), Archena (Spain),
Loutraki (Greece), Ischl (Austria), Wildungen (Germany), Franzensbad (Czech
Republic) Neuenahr (Germany), Bath (Great Britain), Marienbad (Czech Republic),
Naantali (Finland).
The
European organization was founded in 1997 and its Chairman is Rainer Mertel of
Neuenhr. The organization establishes some norms of strict selection to
incorporate new partners, what assures its guests to take a bath in spas of
noble and exquisite treatment in facilities of high quality.
At the present time, the Royal Spas of Europe groups common interests of
their partners, it projects their activity through the commercialization and
sale of offers of health and well-being in the real spas, endowed with elegant
facilities available to offert therapeutic programs of relax and getting top
form, a modern infrastructure hotel as well as select cultural events.
