GYÓR, A THERMAL AND RECREATION PARK IN THE HEART OF THE BAROQUE

 

 

The monumental hungarian city bet for the tourism of well-being and health.


Gyór, one of the three bigest cities of Hungary and holder of the Europa Prize due to the protection of its monuments, inaugurated a thermal and recreation park, in the heart of its Baroque city.

 

About five thousand university students will be able to use the thermal pools of the new SPA thanks to the system of ticket price, with discounts for the pensioners. The medicinal water favours the alternative therapies and it is a bet for the tourism of well-being in the new millennium.

2.500 years ago, the Celts named this place Arrabona. Today Gyór, also named city of the rivers, it is the capital city of the Kisalföld Region (Small Plain) in the zone of the Western Trans-Danubio in Hungary.

The agreement of collaboration between a private company, Raba Quelle S.L., and the autonomous government of the County of Gyór, makes possible that the mineral and termal water, declared medicinal 25 years ago, it can benefit to all those longing to enjoy its properties, in the new thermal and recreational park with an investment that amounts to 100 million Forints, being a third payed by the state.

The opening ceremony was presided by Ferenc Gyurcsány, Minister to the Childhood, Youth and Sport, József Balogh, Mayor of Gyór and Imre Kovacsics, Manager Director of Rába Quelle, S.L., company that will manages the areas of health, sport and the spa of Gyór.

 

FACILITIES

The thermal and recreational park is available to the public from the last 4th of October. To use the modern facilities, a system of ticket price that gives right to the visitors to enjoy the services of the thermal and those of the recreational areas, simultaneously, has been settled down

It has a total of 1.300 square meters of water. The Baths section has 5 swimming pools and 2 toboggans (64 and 38 meters) for the ticket. There is a separated swiming pool for children.

The space of well-being includes pools with jacuzzi, a channel of turbulent waters, cascades, rafting channel, cascade with cave, bath s of bubbles, etc.

The area thermal dissposes of four swimming pools. The water is regulated to several temperatures (29ş, 32ş, 38 Ş C) it offers neck hidromasajes, back and waist, for relaxation and visitors recovery. A garden of saunas (steam and dry) and booths for massages (aromatherapy, herbarium, Swedish, Thai, etc) they supplement the services of the thermal center.

In accordance to the plans of the company Rába Quelle S.L., the most modern therapeutic Spa in the region, will begin to operate since January 2004.

 

GYÓRTHERMAL

Already in the Middle Age the chronicle mentioned the existence of two spas in Gyór and a quarter a century ago, the current Health Minister, he qualified the water surgent from three thermal sources, as medicinal water.

In Hungary, the qualifying requirements for the thermal water are stricter than in other countries of the world. While abroad it is enough to find water whose temperature is superior to 20ş C, in the magiar country, the minimum requirement is of 30 ş C.

According to the Dr. Zoltan Major, medical director of Héviz, and doctor in Rheumatology, Physiotherapy and Sport Medicine, the water of Gyór can favour the alternative therapies and he considers the application of the thermal water and the physiotherapy as a very complete treatment.

The Dr. Z. Major, due to his experience in this field recommends the water of Raba Quelle's Spa, of Gyór for people suffering from osteopathy or articular illnesses, from chronicle articular inflammation and muscular illnesses of any type.

Also it is suitable for pathologies such as chronic bronchitis as cure hidropínica (taking it as drink). In the illnesses of the digestive system or in the hipotiroidismo, it can have beneficial effects.

"however there is a something that we should know, Dr Zoltan emphasized: it is advisable before the therapeutic use of the thermal water, a previous medical exam to avoid secondary effects" .
